Compartment Earth
Kammetal was responsible for Project Management, Design Development, Engineering and Fabrication services for “Compartment Earth” a highly complex sculpture designed by artist Roxy Paine. Over 10 Tons of .25” Stainless Steel was meticulously crafted into shape to realize the artist’s design intent. Because each part of the sculpture was unique Kammetal performed extensive 3D modeling to facilitate a streamline fabrication process. Stainless steel plate was waterjet cut, rolled into complex proles, welded and finished. Proprietary templating and shape development processes were invented to form each part exactly as required. The Sculpture was comprised of over 18 sub-assemblies that were prefabricated and then assembled together to complete the artwork. Kammetal coordinated and arraigned the logistics for transport, engineered and fabricated transport brackets as well as loading/un-loading structural frames. Thanks to the Kammetal team, all aspects of thoughtful project delivery were accounted for so that install and delivery commenced without any delay or issues.
